Rockets, missiles, artificial earth satellites, and prophecies of space flights to neighboring planets fill the news today. The citizen who wishes to be well informed can hardly afford to neglect his or her education in these matters. But there are so many activities in this area that it is sometimes difficult to keep things straight. The following pages are intended to provide the general reader with a brief review of some of the high-speed weapons and vehicles that are either in existence or under development. It is hoped that the review will provide a useful background against which to view some of the news and discussions of the day. The review is, however, not exhaustive, and emphasis is placed on United States vehicles and weapons.
